Your mother hollers that you’re going to miss the bus. She can see it coming down the street. You don’t stop and hug her and tell her you love her. You don’t thank her for being a good, kind, patient mother. Of course not—you launch yourself down the stairs and make a run for the corner.

My Stance:
Monument 14 was a hard pick this week. I haven't been real big fan of this concept and been on the fense about picking this book up. In fact I probably wouldn't if the second book didn't seem more interesting. I am more interested in the second book, than the first and more and more this book just seems dull and boring. When I think about this book, it's just a bunch of children or teens in a superstore. I think more of a Super Target or a Super Walmart, and that's almost the near last place I would want to be, but I have to give the author credit, it's probably the best place to be, figuring food, electricity, water, new/communication, and overall safety/security.
The reason I find this book more or less hard to buy into is the fact, that the world is supposed to be saved by teenagers stuck in a supermarket? I don't buy it, but at the same time, I am looking at this circumstance and trying to understand everything about their survival and what they would go through. It reminds me of the movie 2012 or End of the World, which I fell in love with. However, I am looking at this book and expecting these teenagers to go through and end of the world natural disaster. The question I have is how is one person or our a group of teens supposed to live through and end of days event?
