My Review:
Tangled was a hard book to get through, not that I didn't enjoy it. This book focused on the actions and consequences that faces Mo after her actions in the first book Torn. While that sounds fun and all, it moved rather slow, and I found myself questioning the speed, of this book. Tangled tested the characters, and pushed the boundaries of Mo. This book overall wasn't as great as the first, but provided a closure to the actions and
I found that Mo in this book was trying to choose her path, and make her way through a world she wasn't used to. In the beginning she's trying to live a normal life, and Constance seems to shatter that in a moments notice. As well, Luc enters the picture again, to help Constance and convince Mo that the magic world still needs her. However, Mo continues her relationship with Colin, and keeps him in the dark about the whole world, and the magic she's forced back into.
Mo's facing the consequences of her actions over and over, and they get harder and harder. Having killed Constance's relative, Mo feels she needs to look after her. However Constance believes Mo is letting on more than what she is, and pushes Mo further and further. Mo doesn't right come out and tell her the truth, hoping that she'll understand and while I understand why Mo is doing what she is, it really doesn't make any sense. Colin even admits it once, saying that it won't end well. So why does Mo hide behind a lie?
As well, she leave Colin in the dust about the whole magic world nearly entirely throughout the book, and while he is concerned for her, he never questions her or asks to go along. Personally if I was Colin, I would go with her, and there wouldn't be a real option or argument. I would want to be there, and yet that never happens, Colin starts to show his weak side, and becomes more of a pansy in this book than the previous and it aggravated me thoroughly.
Than the one thing I was hoping to see in the first book happened. Mo's uncle finally catches up to her with the introduction of the Mob. Since she failed to identify the men in the first book, her life is at risk. And rightly the plot thickens when her house is invaded, and for the only time in the book, Colin shows his colors. I loved Colin in that moment, and wished there was more of his selflessness and righteous heart to show more of.
The other characters were normal, her mother who cleans whenever something isn't going as right as it should be. But the best part of this book was the fact that Mo transformed thoroughly through this book. In Torn Mo was just a girl who went about her life and things happened to her; to in Tangled Mo is this girl of action and makes her own path. Her transformation took the cake in this book, just the rest needed more work and fine tuning. The last book in the series, will be coming sometime, I need to get around to finishing the series.
