Title: Proxy
   Author: Alex London
   Release Date: June 18th, 2013

Knox was born into one of the City’s wealthiest families. A Patron, he has everything a boy could possibly want—the latest tech, the coolest clothes, and a Proxy to take all his punishments. When Knox breaks a vase, Syd is beaten. When Knox plays a practical joke, Syd is forced to haul rocks. And when Knox crashes a car, killing one of his friends, Syd is branded and sentenced to death.

Syd is a Proxy. His life is not his own.

Then again, neither is Knox’s. Knox and Syd have more in common than either would guess. So when Knox and Syd realize that the only way to beat the system is to save each other, they flee. Yet Knox’s father is no ordinary Patron, and Syd is no ordinary Proxy. The ensuing cross-country chase will uncover a secret society of rebels, test both boys’ resolve, and shine a blinding light onto a world of those who owe and those who pay. Some debts, it turns out, cannot be repaid.

My Stance:

I found this book on Barnes and Noble, yes I browse that place daily and more or less keep an eye out for books that spike me interest and keep my brain going. Brian, one of Barnes and Noble's staff, does his monthly picks and this was one of them. I like to see what Brian has in store, and lately I have been hoping he would do more books instead of the four or five he does. The reason is I tend to find or see other books that are better than some of his picks. Like Siege and Storm, not on his list at all; Why?

However than at other times you get these books that he features, that completely slip bast your basis, and I love that. Proxy is a world and a book I had never heard of, and I wish I had. A world in which the rich are able to buy a Proxy, or a person to deflect all their negativity and punishments on to. Knox is part of the wealthiest families, a Patron. Syd is Knox's proxy and while Syd understands that his life is not his own, there is something deeper that brings Syd and Knox close.

What I am worried about in this book is that fact that some of it is over done. The dystopian genre seems to be getting flooded. While that's not bad, it means that coming up with something original and catching is harder to do. It'll come into what Knox and Syd do together, and how they are bound. We know that Syd isn't a normal Prox and Knox's father isn't a normal Patron, what does that mean and how does it help shape the trouble they are in when both flee across the country, and world?
