My Stance:
In a Handful of Dust while the book is relatively new, I just don't have it, and the first book, was just great. I didn't realize it wa Lynn from the first book and thought it was another set of girls, well that just makes my hype and what I thought the book would be about that much better. I don't remember Lucy and maybe I will if I go back and look over some of the review notes of the first book. The first book ended so well, that having this book is a must. I haven't found it yet and while I could order it online, I've been trying to find a good Indie store with it.
What I like most about this book is the two seem to have made a lifestyle for themselves out of the pond. In a world where water is a precious commodity and means life and death, leaving it behind would be hard to do. However, what happens when that water is the reason part of the community is dying. I find that dilemma hard to follow, not in a logical sort of way, but a what would I do in that situation sort of position. Further, the whole situation and needing to trek across the country makes the whole bit more surreal and dire. The first book was about humanity and fighting for survival, this book seems more about survival. I love the premise and the idea, and I just hope that Mindy McGinnis will deliver.
