My Stance:
I love dragons and being written by Julie Kagawa only aids in the reason to pick this book up. The cover does a great job conveying what this book is about, if you get the whole scales and title. Also you get this whole duality of Dragonkin and Humans. I love how Kagawa weaves a potential romance or something of a relationship in between what looks to be a war or sorts. However, what I don't understand is how the whole human vs. dragonkin war is being conveyed. I mean we don't understand how cruel or aggressive the dragonkin are, normally the dragonkin are territorial and very aggressive. Which I take in this case isn't it at all.
However I will say that I enjoy how Kagawa is taking the dragonkin and making the have a human form. The subtlety and infiltration tactic makes them aggressive but in a more intellectual way. I love how they are portrayed as being smarter and brilliant. However, for Xavier the love interest to the main character, it makes his job harder. Trying to track down dragons that look like humans is harder and reminds me of The 5th Wave. I love how the book is setup, and this is a book in which I am not nervous about. Kagawa will ensure this book will be fantastic.
