Can there truly be love after death?
Drifting in the dark waters of a mysterious river, the only thing Amelia knows for sure is that she's dead. With no recollection of her past life—or her actual death—she's trapped alone in a nightmarish existence. All of this changes when she tries to rescue a boy, Joshua, from drowning in her river. As a ghost, she can do nothing but will him to live. Yet in an unforgettable moment of connection, she helps him survive.
Amelia and Joshua grow ever closer as they begin to uncover the strange circumstances of her death and the secrets of the dark river that held her captive for so long. But even while they struggle to keep their bond hidden from the living world, a frightening spirit named Eli is doing everything in his power to destroy their newfound happiness and drag Amelia back into the ghost world . . . forever.
Thrilling and evocative, with moments of pure pleasure, Hereafter is a sensation you won't want to miss.

My Stance:
Hereafter, the series finished this year with Elegy and while I have been looking at it and wondering what type of book this series is, I've been left curious. I've been looking for that book that will fill the void Anna Dressed in Blood left when it ended, and I hope this book fills that hole. However the book seems to take the opposite role. Amelia would be like Anna, however Amelia cannot remember her past life, or her death, or why she's stuck in the river. Furthermore when Joshua is drowning in her river she tries to rescue him, and the book begins down a twisting river.
What I see in this book, is the potential for a unique and different love story beyond the grave. However I didn't think it would be with a ghost and a mortal. At first I thought it would be two ghosts falling for each other (my stupid judgement early on), but as the synopsis unfolds the story unfolds into something better. While those that I follow have rated this book fairly low, I always wonder why that is. So I'm going to see that this book be given a second opinion and a second chance. Who knows maybe I'll change others opinions on where this book stands.
