[Cover Reveal] - Cover Reveal #2: Ignite Me

Title: Ignite Me
   Author: Tahereh Mafi
   Release Date: February 4th, 2014

The heart-stopping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, called "a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love"

Juliette now knows she may be the only one who can stop the Reestablishment. But to take them down, she'll need the help of the one person she never thought she could trust: Warner. And as they work together, Juliette will discover that everything she thought she knew-about Warner, her abilities, and even Adam-was wrong.

In Shatter Me, Tahereh Mafi created a captivating and original story that combined the best of dystopian and paranormal and was praised by Publishers Weekly as "a gripping read from an author who's not afraid to take risks." The sequel, Unravel Me, blew readers away with heart-racing twists and turns, and New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia said it was "dangerous, sexy, romantic, and intense." Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and climactic end.

My Reaction:

This gives me a reason to read Unravel Me, and while I have other books that are ahead of it in the line, I think I am going to have to make room for that book before Feb. 2014. I really enjoyed Shatter Me, and while i haven't finished Destroy Me entirely I am so enthralled by her characters and the plot. Mafi does a great job creating characters that you can relate to, if you were in that situation as well.

With Destroy Me, the reason I haven't gotten around to finishing it, was the main character Warner. I understand he's a villain and we are supposed to hate him, and I do. Yet I just can't stand him, his personality and his actions lack honor or well sanity. I should probably finish that e-novel and get into Unravel Me, and make a judgement there, yet I am wondering if I should just put the e-book away and skip it.

Enough about Destroy Me, this isn't a review about that; let's talk about the cover of Ignite Me. I loved the first cover, Shatter Me, and I never really understood why they moved away from that. The solo eye I just don't understand; while it is artistic and elegantly done, I am not sure if it was the best route for this series. I could connect better visually to the first cover, because it detailed Juliette and what she would look like. Had they taken that over to Unravel Me and transformed her into a wintery/blue dress with icicles, I think it would have connected with the audience better.

Ignite Me's cover describes blooming. It's as if Juliette finally understands who she is and what she's after, and what the costs may be. Or the conclusion to Juliette maturing into a woman who is in love with someone, and yet facing the reality that maybe the person you trust the least, is the only one who can help you achieve a peaceful lifestyle with the one you love. Maybe I am reading too much into the synopsis and the cover together, but that's what I am getting from the cover.
