[Cover Reveal] - Cover Reveal #3: The Offering

Title: The Offering
   Author: Kimberly Derting
   Release Date: January 7th, 2014

True love—and world war—is at stake in the conclusion to The Pledge trilogy, a dark and romantic blend of dystopia and fantasy.

Charlie, otherwise known as Queen Charlaina of Ludania, has become comfortable as a leader and a ruler. She’s done admirable work to restore Ludania’s broken communications systems with other Queendoms, and she’s mastered the art of ignoring Sabara, the evil former queen whose Essence is alive within Charlie. Or so she thinks.

When the negotiation of a peace agreement with the Queendom of Astonia goes awry, Charlie receives a brutal message that threatens Ludania, and it seems her only option is to sacrifice herself in exchange for Ludanian freedom.

But things aren’t always as they seem. Charlie is walking into a trap—one set by Sabara, who is determined to reclaim the Queendoms at any cost.

My Reaction:

This cover is amazing! I never thought I would be amazed at a cover when it came to The Pledge series. The other two covers were almost monochrome. There was usually one color or two and there wasn't much emotion in the characters face on the cover. It felt boring and dull, but the synopsis caught my eye and drug me into buying the first two books. I haven't read either of them yet, and seeing this cover that may change.

This book has character and color. Okay yeah there is blue, but if you look closer we got the various flesh tones of her skin. furthermore we have the white of her teeth, the shaded lips and the most gorgeous part of all, the blonde hair. The blue slash over the front sets of her eyes and I seem to be drug there looking at her facial expression that breaths and exclaims as much as all the color does in this book compared to the last two covers.

The Pledge and The Essence focuses on a covered face that conceals half her face and makes it hard to tell what the character is thinking or anything really. I wanted to see more of the face, and when this cover came up I just couldn't look away. This is the cover I was looking for, and the expression on her face trumps the last two without any comparison. There is wonder, amazement, and maybe a hint of fear in the face of Charlie. So cannot wait to see this book on my shelf!
