[Book Review] - A Beautiful Wedding by Jamie McGuire

Title: A Beautiful Wedding
   Series: Jamie McGuire
   Series: #2.5 - Beautiful
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: December 10th, 2013
My Rating: 5.0 out of 5.0

You know that Abby Abernathy unexpectedly became Mrs. Maddox. But what do you really know?

Why did Abby pop the question?
What secrets were shared before the ceremony?
Where did they spend their wedding night?
Who else knew about it . . . and didn’t tell?

Everything about Abby and Travis’s elopement was top-secret . . . until now. Fans of Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster will get all of their questions answered in this whirlwind tale of the wedding day (and night!)—and as with all good stories, this one will definitely have been worth the wait.

My Review:

This was rather a quick read and I won't take much time on it. It's a great novella that frankly I couldn't pass up. For a novella we all were asking about, Jamie delivers a home run of a book. There was a lot of talk about why Abby wanted to marry Tavis just out of the blue. Further where they got married and part of their future. This just flat out spoiled me in romance novels, I want this more often (the sort small view in into the future of the characters and what happened).

Abby and Travis are back, and while I was expecting a more gushy romance novel there was more underneath this short novella that I was surprised at what I thought of it. Frankly the who undertow to this book was why Abby wanted to marry Travis and it all stems from the ending of Beautiful Disaster, while she does it to save Travis, and she grows the courage to do the one thing that Travis is nervous about doing.

The whole experience of seeing their wedding, even if they do elope. Even if it wasn't thought out at all, Travis wants to do everything right by Abby, and he goes out of his way to do what he thinks would do her right. First of all, Abby does have her doubts, she knows she wants to marry him, she loves him, but the reality of how quick its all coming together is what surprises her. Travis gives her the one thing in the book that I would love to do sometime, or ask my wife to do for our kids, he gives her an envelope which is a letter from Travis's deceased mother to whomever his future wife may be. That's what gives her the courage to continue and be with him, but it's just so over the top and sweet.

Further you see the whole bit of Trenton and Abby talking, This part in this book I saw Trenton in a new light, while he does understand what she's doing, he looks after her and Travis advising her to think long and hard about what she's doing. Trenton is the best brother to Travis and while he is the only one she confides in, it's that type of relationship to Travis that shows why she goes to her.

While this isn't necessary and I probably spoiled some of the story there is plenty of enjoyment in this novella. Jamie is one of my favorite authors. With this novella and the possibility of a book from Trenton her world and Jamie's writing style is just superb. If she writes anything else I will devour it. She's just such a great writer, and her style is just downright amazing.
