My Stance:
What do you know, another book by an author I haven't read yet. I need to stop buying books, but the use of DNA in the design (the hair) just makes me happy. The imagery of the whole cover is magnificent. This is added to my list of 'Get-To's this year. I hope to get to some other books of hers this year, but that's another issue. However, this book has one of the worst comparisons I've seen. "... for fans of James Patterson's Confessions of a Murder Suspect." Really? That book was just awful, please no, don't compare yourself to that.
However when I dive into this one I have some rising issues with this book. First of all I understand the first book is about HTS (Homicidal Tendency Syndrome), and how it's supposedly what makes people kill people. However, I don't think simply because you have a gene you will go outside and shoot up a neighborhood or something. It just seems too much of a stretch, people have choice and free will, and yeah some genetics play part in some of it. It's a balance sort of, but when it comes to murder you have free will to just walk away or kill him. Maybe this book will live up to the comparison if it follows this path; I hope not.
Then I get to the next tidbit, she has killed someone and is on the run. Okay murderer on the run from police? Sure, that's a thing, but than it takes a step forward and says she's going to fight for her right to live free. You killed someone! Running is going to be your life, depending on the circumstances, maybe I should read the first book to find out. I am just skeptical on this next leap, and I am curious to see where the books takes it. Need to get to this first book asap.
