Title: In A Handful of Dust
   Author: Mindy McGinnis
   Release Date: September 23rd, 2014

The only thing bigger than the world is fear.

Lucy’s life by the pond has always been full. She has water and friends, laughter and the love of her adoptive mother, Lynn, who has made sure that Lucy’s childhood was very different from her own. Yet it seems Lucy’s future is settled already—a house, a man, children, and a water source—and anything beyond their life by the pond is beyond reach.

When disease burns through their community, the once life-saving water of the pond might be the source of what’s killing them now. Rumors of desalinization plants in California have lingered in Lynn’s mind, and the prospect of a “normal” life for Lucy sets the two of them on an epic journey west to face new dangers: hunger, mountains, deserts, betrayal, and the perils of a world so vast that Lucy fears she could be lost forever, only to disappear in a handful of dust.

In this companion to Not a Drop to Drink, Mindy McGinnis thrillingly combines the heart-swelling hope of a journey, the challenges of establishing your own place in the world, and the gripping physical danger of nature in a futuristic frontier.

My Stance:

In a Handful of Dust while the book is relatively new, I just don't have it, and the first book, was just great. I didn't realize it wa Lynn from the first book and thought it was another set of girls, well that just makes my hype and what I thought the book would be about that much better. I don't remember Lucy and maybe I will if I go back and look over some of the review notes of the first book. The first book ended so well, that having this book is a must. I haven't found it yet and while I could order it online, I've been trying to find a good Indie store with it.

What I like most about this book is the two seem to have made a lifestyle for themselves out of the pond. In a world where water is a precious commodity and means life and death, leaving it behind would be hard to do. However, what happens when that water is the reason part of the community is dying. I find that dilemma hard to follow, not in a logical sort of way, but a what would I do in that situation sort of position. Further, the whole situation and needing to trek across the country makes the whole bit more surreal and dire. The first book was about humanity and fighting for survival, this book seems more about survival. I love the premise and the idea, and I just hope that Mindy McGinnis will deliver.

[Movie Unwrapping] - If I Stay

Now this is the main reason I went out on Black Friday. I was hoping to get this movie and while there was a bit of a crowd when I got this movie and frankly it was worth it. I have seen this movie more than what I can count on two hands, there is part of my that is touched by this movie and the novel itself. This was and is probably one of my most endearing and enjoyable book-movie adaptation. What I want to convey most in this is my joy of the novel, and seeing translated to the screen so well. It was and will always remain part of me.

Inside:

Now the cover and the back of the case/jacket do a great job of showing more or less what is going on. I love in the cover how Adam and Mia posing together, but Mia has a translucent copy of her behind her. There is a metaphor for that image and it's told over and over in the story, and has a purpose. I love it, and how the image captures it perfectly. The back is just great to, and it's almost symbolic of the movie. A series of memories and pleasantries.

The discs are magnificent, well the DvD, but at the same image is used again on the cover for the BluRay. However in this case (as opposed to the Catching Fire set) the two are just so great that even using them shows the romance and the symbolic gestures of the two. These images have meaning in them. love, and hope, but when there is memories attached to those images it makes them all that more meaningful. In this case they are so great and touch me just by looking at them.

Of all the movies I own, there aren't many movies that I hold or would want to get a poster of. This is one that I would love. I would want to mount on a wall, maybe frame it even. The movie means so much to me, and is by far one of my most favorite movies of all times.

[Movie Unwrapping] - Catching Fire

I am catching up on the movies that I got on Black Friday and here is one that frankly I didn't buy because of the sale. I wanted this movie ahead of time, I just missed the time when it came out. Catching Fire was just so great of a movie, and how it turned up the scales in the series. Missing this movie's release date more or less plagued me and I was looking around the local stores for it, so when I found it on Black Friday I couldn't pass it up.

Inside:

Now what I more or less dislike about this cover was the frank reuse of the first cover but from a different perspective. I wanted something new for a cover, but this just wasn't it and while I'm not saying the cover made me angry or upset, it just let me down. Further I took time trying to find a package with another pendant, but they never came out with one. The mockingjay logo changed on the book throughout and it made me rather sad to see they didn't update the pendants.

Now diving into the discs I find a lack of interest in the graphics chosen here. For a lack of better words it's just lazy. If the main purpose to get get people to buy the package or the movie, then why go with a smaller version of the same image on the cover. I just wish there was something more, and different with the whole lack of effort I guess. However, it makes me wonder if the budget for this movie was a bit lower than what they did in the first. Either way, this movie was late incoming and doesn't make me any less grateful for the movie.

[Movie Unwrapping] - The Hunger Games

I thought I had done this one. I guess I was wrong on this, I am going to go back and fix this than with the unwrapping of the first movie that I actually bought myself. The Hunger Games, one of my favorite movies, and I've seen it more than I can count on my hands and toes. There are scenes in this movie that will tear your heart from your chest. Further, there wasn't a choice on whether I would pick up this movie to start a collection of YA Movies and give my support to the industry and hope to get more book-movie adaptations.
Now when I got to the store, and was looking at the versions to choose from, frankly if I wanted to start a collection and something I would enjoy myself; I wanted the combo (DvD and BluRay). Further I don't have a BluRay player, but I had purchases of getting one. While the BluRay player hasn't shown up yet, my parents have one and while I don't use it often I love to sport the idea that one day.

Inside:

Now the cover of the box and the case at the time was great. Jennifer Lawrence is just beautiful, and the whole action shot with the bow brings Katniss to life. While I wish there was more color to the cover than the immense reds and oranges, but I get the whole flame/fire theme. What I love most about the whole packaging was what wasn't featured, a necklace with the mockingjay pendant on it. I have that hanging from the rearview mirror in my car. It's just a token and memory of the great book. I enjoy that thing, even though I couldn't really wear it and have it look good.

Now for the first movie that I ever bought myself this was a bit on the pricey side, but the movie was wroth the money spent. In fact I've seen it more than what it would have been to rent it and be worth my while. However, I wanted to buy the first book I read that really got me interested in books in the first place. So I figured if I started in one place, I may as well start in two..

[Book Review] - The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

Title: The 5th Wave
   Author: Rick Yancey
Series: #1 - The Fifth Wave
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: May 7th, 2013
My Rating: 5.0 out of 5.0

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker.

Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

My Review:

So the first 5.0 review I am doing this year for a book I read last year. While it isn't the first 5.0 rated book that I've read this year, I am sure the sequel to this book will be just as great. Rick Yancey was a new author to me and while I took a bit longer than most to jump on this book, I am saddened that it took me so long. This book was the pinnacle of fantasy and alien/thrill that I was looking for in a book that year. I just wish that I had gotten around to the book sooner and I did learn that I should probably forgo my rule of "Don't jump on the Hype wagon" and take a few more risks when books just skyrocket in popularity.

Cassie was by far one of my favorite characters in this book, and while the chapters alternate between the Evan and Ben there is a sort of down to earth and realistic personality with Cassie. She is just so young and thrown into a world war of shorts with aliens and the outcome just isn't pretty at all. Her reactions and how she handles all the events and how her family is upended and changed forever by the "waves." What I never understood though is why she "abandons" her younger brother, Sammy.

Ben is the love interest of Cassie, or shall we say it was before the whole invasion and waves. However the story Ben tells is something completely different. He's gearing up for war and going out to fight the aliens. In doing so he's being trained and losing his personality at the cost. As the story jumps around you see Ben growing to be not just a soldier who doesn't question what he's told, but at the same time, he is compassionate. When he takes in Sammy to his group, and starts training him, his character shows completely. I loved that moment of him and the insight to him that you don't normally catch through the "military man" he's presented and growing into.

The camp that Ben and Sam are at is supposedly one of the largest/last remaining military bases that supposedly is around to stop and fend of the enemy. However from the beginning you can tell there is something off about how the teens are being trained and what they go through (when they go crazy). The work they do is so desensitizing that you get to see just how bad the world has become and I couldn't imagine the raw emotion/sorrow or hopelessness they felt in doing it. To not lose yourself in that environment would be hard and almost a battle in itself.

Evan is another character that really doesn't start for a good section of the book and while I didn't realize it at first, there was something to him than being just a simple flesh and blood human. Evan is a hunter you could say and while he's there as a sleeper to help kill and pick off humans, you get to see just how ruthless the aliens/humans have become. The whole world has switched from compassion and looking out for one another, to shoot first and ask later. The depth to Evan's character is what makes him unique, but also what he is.

The whole romance between Evan and Cassie was a bit much, and while (SPOILER) Evan is an alien, that wasn't it. I just never saw how Cassie just leapt into his arms, but than again if you were surviving all on your own for that long a little companionship would be nice. Maybe not to that extreme, but that's where I don't know how one would react, if not in that situation. I did think the relationship was pretty decent, while I didn't really get involved or attached to the whole bit, it gave the novel some life and something to sort of reflect on. But you also get to see that not all the aliens think that overtaking and forcing the humans out is what should have been done. It gives life to a possibility of a rift in the aliens and an opening the humans could possibly take advantage of.

When it came to how good of a Fantasy novel this book was, there wasn't a doubt in my mind on the rating. I devoured this book for how big it was, and about started up Infinite Sea right away. I honestly can't wait to get into the sequel, and wish I would have now that I'm writing this review. Rick Yancey while I haven't really heard of, instantly makes my must watch and read list. The style of this book was perfect and dark, making the tone and the whole environment perfectly. Honestly for Fantasy and the whole alien-invasion genre, there couldn't be a better book that I've seen yet. I hope a book can prove me wrong.

Title: The Darkest Part of the Forest
   Author: Holly Black
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: January 13th, 2015

Children can have a cruel, absolute sense of justice. Children can kill a monster and feel quite proud of themselves. A girl can look at her brother and believe they’re destined to be a knight and a bard who battle evil. She can believe she’s found the thing she’s been made for.

Hazel lives with her brother, Ben, in the strange town of Fairfold where humans and fae exist side by side. The faeries’ seemingly harmless magic attracts tourists, but Hazel knows how dangerous they can be, and she knows how to stop them. Or she did, once.

At the center of it all, there is a glass coffin in the woods. It rests right on the ground and in it sleeps a boy with horns on his head and ears as pointed as knives. Hazel and Ben were both in love with him as children. The boy has slept there for generations, never waking.

     Until one day, he does…

As the world turns upside down, Hazel tries to remember her years pretending to be a knight. But swept up in new love, shifting loyalties, and the fresh sting of betrayal, will it be enough?

My Stance:

Holly Black has been on my list and while there are some books that don't live up to the higher standards or what I tend to expect, I am looking forward to this one. What I don't understand though is what the faeries do in normal everyday life. I mean what added bonus or service do they provide? I love the idea and what the premise is, but at the same time I am wondering what the purpose of the boy in the woods who was asleep for what seems their entire childhood. It's kinda of easy to assume he would be the faerie king or something similar, but he could play an important part in some other aspect of the book. It just doesn't make great logical sense, but I am reading the synopsis only.

I want to dive into this book a little further because frankly there are two old fairy tales that this book reminds me of. First is Hansel and Gretel and Second would be Snow White. The reason for Hansel and Gretel is that both Hazel and Ben are siblings but the story references the two of them doing battle. However, Snow White comes with the boy asleep in the woods, until he randomly awakens. I believe that Hazel falls for him and she is the one who wakes him and than causes some sort of disturbance with the faeries. It sounds great, and I am expecting this book to be pretty good.

Title: Marked
Author: P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast
   Release Date: May 1st, 2007

Quote: "Well hell! They were filling the room with pot smoke mixed with spices. Unbelievable. I'd stood up to peer pressure and for years said no to even the most polite offers to try one of those gross-looking homemade joints that get passed around at parties and whatnot. (I mean, please. Is that even sanitary? And just exactly why would I want to do a drug that made me want to obsessively eat fattening snack foods?) And now here I stood, immersed in pot smoke. Sigh. Kayla would never believe it."

[Update] - 1/3/2015

Well I would love to start off by saying Welcome to 2015 and Welcome to the new look. I like how this is looking at the moment. I am working on a fix to change the Recent Posts to show 8-12 posts instead of 4 at the moment. I hope to have that changed soon, but there's not real time on when that is coming through. There are a few tweeks I have to do first thing tomorrow morning. It's getting late and I need sleep. Sorry I didn't get it all completely fixed before moving over but things happen. I appreciate everyone bearing with me.

Next on the list means that I am going to be posting a marquee at the top with any special info that needs to come across, please pay attention. Further the Barnes & Noble / Amazon wishlist is next on my list. I hope to have those done soon, and I would love to add links to Goodreads, B&N and Amazon to my pages, just not sure how I am going to do that as of yet. I am not sponsored by any of them, but I feel giving the readers a chance to go purchase the book after being here is worth it effort and time that's going to be put in. As well I have changed some of the padding with the images, I need to go in and change some of the back-issue posts to follow through with the change, that may take some more time but consistency! Either way, it's 3:20 a.m. here and I need sleep. Thanks!

[Year In Review] - Best of 2014

I wanted to take some time to give a few mentions to what I think would be the "best" books of the year. First, these are from the books I read this year, so frankly if there's a better book for the category, but I didn't read it, sorry. I just didn't have all the time in the world to read all of the books that came out this year so frankly most of the books are older, and that's okay with me. I view the book as recognition and a good reflection of the books that I read this year. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think of the books on this list.

Best YA Book of the Year:

Title: Dare You To
   Author: Katie McGarry
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: May 28th, 2013

Reason:

Dare you to had everything I was looking for in a book this year. I am not sure what exactly to say more in this book other than it was more than just perfect. I love how the relationship with Ryan and Beth was so unique and I honestly wished I was one of them.

Of course there are character flaws in both Beth and Ryan but that's life and I find that those flaws make them believable. I found that I bought into them and the story-telling was just fantastic. How the romance bloomed and the trials and tribulations between Beth and Ryan made the story just so great and grand. Congratulations, Katie. This was was very very well done.

Best Start of a Series:

Title:  Exquisite Captive
   Author: Heather Demetrios
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: October 7th, 2014

Reason:

Now this was a hard choice, I had two good starts to series that I read this year. However, this book just stood out (not that it was the end of the year or anything). The other being Anna and the French Kiss, it just was too linear and I could see where things were going, even though the story was sweet and well done. This book just brought originality to the table and a romance that was brilliant and captivating.

Underneath everything though there is a bit of a fantasy to the story as well with the whole Jinni world and what Nalia is going through.  I love Nalia and how she's so stubborn and does things her own way. Yeah, she's a princess/queen of sorts, but there isn't all the heir of superiority in her (like there may have been previously). The story is told well, the writing done great, and it was just a surprise for me I couldn't resist putting it on here.

Best Installment in a Series:

Title: Dare You To
   Author: Katie McGarry
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: May 28th, 2013

Reason:

Katie is back again. But this was rather hard to choose between. I mean that in as sarcastic a way as possible. For this category I only read Dare You To this year (that wasn't a start or an ending to a series). I wanted to avoid starts and that's what I did a lot of this year was start series. Next year though I plan on continuing most of those series so Crash Into You will have some competition. Plus this is a great testament to how great the book is and how well it is done. This book alone places Katie as one of my favorite authors, and ones to watch.

Best Finale in a Series:

Title: Into The Still Blue
   Author: Veronica Rossi
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: January 28th, 2014

Reason:

This was another one of those, there was only one book in the category to choose from, but frankly I would have chosen this one anyway. I love Aria and Perry and they are by far one of my favorite YA Couples, but at the same time this book didn't really live up to all the hype. I did expect more out of this book, but frankly for the conclusion it was great and while leaving the series at a cliffhanger you get the idea that there is some sort of closure in everything.

Further The whole story bouncing between Aria and Perry (throughout the series) was done better in this novel, and it's hard of me to say that I wanted more of Perry or Aria. I almost wanted to see more of the supporting characters. The world building was great, and while the wilds weren't all that ferocious, they always left you with this impending doom that was always looming over your head.

Title: Beautiful Oblivion
   Author: Jami McGuire
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: July 1st, 2014

Reason:

Beautiful Oblivion was without a doubt my favorite book in terms of Romance this year. While some people may not see it, but Cami was such a better main character than the previous Abby. Trenton was the same in comparison to Travis, but it was so refreshing and you could see why Travis relied on Trenton. I loved Trenton and enjoyed the plot and how the romance formed. It was so real, but at the same time the book isn't just entire smut driven.

So when it came to comparing this to other romances, I just never bought into the rest as much as Cami and Trenton. There was just so much complexity to the two, but at the same time the flaws they had brought light and more defining features to the front of their characters. They weren't perfect and while their secrets sometimes got between them, it never really defined them.

Best YA Contemporary:

Title: Anna and the French Kiss
   Author: Stephanie Perkins
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: December 2nd, 2011

Reason:

When this category came up there wasn't any choice, this was what I thought of first and honestly what I think of Contemporary this year. Granted I only read 50 books but a good amount of those were romances and I thought I rounded out what I read in terms of YA pretty well.

Anyways, Anna was so cute and while there is a lot of underlying issues with each character. Anna and Etienne were so cute and while the story didn't seem to original it was refreshing and sweet. If you want something sweet and wonderful, this book is for you, but keep in mind it's a pretty generic, run of the mill contemporary.

Best YA Coming of Age:

Title: Tease
   Author: Amanda Maciel
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: April 29th, 2014

Reason:

Tease while it may not have been my first pick or the best candidate for this, I couldn't deny the impact it had. This book changed a lot of how I feel and how the style of books I read. It has a huge impact on me, and frankly I loved how this book turned out, and how it ended. While this may not be on most people's list, this book just needs the recognition.

A book about Sara, who goes through the process of being accused of bullying Emma who committed suicide. However the difference is Sara doesn't believe she caused or made her. It's hard to say whether she did or not, but Sara feels generally bad where her friends don't. The book follows Sara as she comes to terms with the part she played in Emma's death..

Best YA Fantasy:

Title: Salvage
   Author: Alexandra Duncan
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: April 1st, 2014

Reason:

Salvage was just so unique and great in terms of how the outer space. I didn't think the whole different world and how earth was changed (futuristic) was too different or far fetched. While there were parts of the book that were a bit lackluster, the book generally kept me interested and turning the pages through the duller moments. I love a book that can take normal character growth (such as getting used earth's gravity when you've spent your entire life in space) and keep you reading.

Ava wasn't one of my favorite female characters of the year, but she was great to read about. How her whole world was nearly all slavery and almost could be considered human trafficking. I couldn't really see where the book was going, but the book never really left the reader wondering or being too confused for too long. It provided that elusiveness of a girl in a whole new world, but kept it similar to everyday Earth.

Best YA Cover:

Title: A Thousand Pieces of You
   Author: Claudia Gray
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: November 4th, 2014

Reason:

There were a lot of pretty covers this year, and I am a fan of older 1800-1900 women fashion on covers (i.e. Forbidden, Exquisite Captive, The Luxe series, The Sweet Far Thing) but when it comes to colors and actually visualizing, this book just stood out. I love the colors and how there is two completely different worlds represented in this novel. I haven't read the book yet, and frankly I looked at all the books I bought this year and those that were released for this one just to see if there was one that was better. Frankly the colors and the representation is just great.

Title: Far From You
   Author: Tess Sharpe
   Release Date: April 8th, 2014

     Sophie Winters nearly died. Twice.

The first time, she's fourteen, and escapes a near-fatal car accident with scars, a bum leg, and an addiction to Oxy that'll take years to kick.

The second time, she's seventeen, and it's no accident. Sophie and her best friend Mina are confronted by a masked man in the woods. Sophie survives, but Mina is not so lucky. When the cops deem Mina's murder a drug deal gone wrong, casting partial blame on Sophie, no one will believe the truth: Sophie has been clean for months, and it was Mina who led her into the woods that night for a meeting shrouded in mystery.

After a forced stint in rehab, Sophie returns home to a chilly new reality. Mina's brother won't speak to her, her parents fear she'll relapse, old friends have become enemies, and Sophie has to learn how to live without her other half. To make matters worse, no one is looking in the right places and Sophie must search for Mina's murderer on her own. But with every step, Sophie comes closer to revealing all: about herself, about Mina and about the secret they shared.

My Stance:

Far From You was on my list for the cover to be honest, I liked the pretty lights and whatnot but the synopsis didn't really get me intrigued until recently when I've been having a bit of contemporary or coming-of-age rush. Now what gets me the most about this book is a girl, Sophie, has died nearly twice. I get the first one which puts her on some Oxy addiction. However the second is where I fall apart at. I understand the police think it's a drug deal gone wrong, but with a history that Sophie has and the logic of her Oxy; it just doesn't make sense why the police would suspect her. Okay, maybe a little but at first no, and than to disregard the other evidence just seems hard to believe.

I have to say I am getting a bit tired of seeing books in which girl is almost killed and now they must track down the killer themselves to free their own name. Its almost so overdone, but some do it better than others. Sophie doesn't need to go tracking the killer down, maybe get enough evidence or proof that she's not to blame and turn it over to the police. There's got to be other ways, and I know that if she turns it over to the police it may look bad. It just bothers me on this one track story-line, the only way to really save it is a pretty good twist in the mystery somewhere. Taking a risk on this book is something that I'm still debating on, and while I haven't come to terms why it yet the synopsis pounds in the back of my head.

[Book Review] - Keep Holding On by Susane Colasanti

Title: Keep Holding On
   Author: Susane Colasanti
   Format: Hardcover
   Release Date: May 31st, 2012
My Rating: 3.0 out of 5.0

A romantic and empowering book about bullying

Noelle's life is all about survival. Even her best friend doesn't know how much she gets bullied, or the ways her mom neglects her. Noelle's kept so much about her life a secret for so long that when her longtime crush Julian Porter starts paying attention to her, she's terrified. Surely it's safer to stay hidden than to risk the pain of a broken heart. But when the antagonism of her classmates takes a dramatic turn, Noelle realizes it's time to stand up for herself--and for the love that keeps her holding on.

My Review:

This was a first book by Colasanti, and frankly there are parts of me that I wish were more pinned down on a definite rating or feeling toward this book. Noelle wasn't what I had anticipated. While I was looking for more romance and coming of age tale I got something far different, but that's not to say it was bad. I just wasn't sure with all the differences and bouncing back and forth of Noelle, it was as believable or understanding.

Noelle is a normal high school girl but living in a troubled life. I didnt' see it at first, but her life is more of a neglect, her mother just doesn't pay attention to her at all, and when she does it's not in the typical motherly way. Noelle pretty much fends for herself, her own laundry, food, basic funds and rent. It seems that its been going on for a while and while she doesn't have money to eat at school or if she does it's not what she is looking to eat (or what she prefers), and I will get more on that later.

She isn't the normal poor girl though is what through me for a loop. I get that she's neglected and alone, but there is something else about the character that just seemed to raise a red flag to me. She wanted healthy food, not canned, fast food, or processed which if she was poor poor, she would have eaten anything. I don't understand, it was just a conflict of ideas and notions in the story, more trivial than anything but it was something that nagged at me throughout the book.

Being the finicky eater that Noelle is, it raised questions, but also constant bullying. I think the bullying is mainly because they don't understand her lifestyle outside of school, which is understandable at that age. There was some bit of the torment that after a while changed her, made her fight back. The backbone she got in the book was the best coming of age section in the book. However there is something that just needs to go a few steps forward.

Now the part that got me the most was Matt her boyfriend, that to the reader it's very very apparent that he's using her. To Noelle I can see where she may have feelings for him, but after some ot the stunts he pulls, I don't understand how or why she stays with him. It's painful to see her emotions when she finds out the truth, but at the same time there is some release in knowing she's free and maybe she can move on.

I would like to take time to say one thing about the supporting characters. They all have a role to play in the growth of Noelle. There's the friends who buy food for her but in more indirect way, the long love interest Julian who doesn't understand what she's going through, he never really pushes her though. There is something about Julian thought that just sounded almost too good to be true. I liked the idea of Julian.

Noelle's story while okay, wasn't what I thought I was getting myself into, and that's not bad. But overall, the story was mediocre, but the character development and characterization of all the supporting characters was pretty good. I don't want to sound too negative, more than anything this just wasn't my style of book,. I'm not saying that Colasanti is a bad writer, or can't put out a good book, for a first book by her and not being my style, I will continue to look and thumb through her novels for one I will enjoy. This book having said all of that, did make me question the 3.0 or 4.0 rating. I was on the edge of both, but the nagging hunger issue was what made the story drop.
