Here comes two books, Rebel Heart and The Raft. Rebel Heart, #2 in the Dustlands series, picks up where Blood Red Road left off and continues the tale with Saba and Jack. I am hoping a lot that this book will pick up in the relationship department, and maybe a bit more about Jack and his character in general. Now with The Raft, it's a different genre. About a girl who finds herself in a plane crash stranded in the middle of an ocean on a raft with Max, a friend/co-pilot whatever I don't know. This seems interesting, and I hope it is!

This is one of those books, a sequel to a good original series, that just was good and makes you want to know what happens to Saba and the rest of the crew. Saba being one of the most terrifyingly brutal and bold female characters I've seen in a while, she's got my attention. There is this part about her, this soft spot for Jack and there's already enough mystery with Jack, to keep me interested in the series. I really hope they progress the relationship between Jack and Saba a bit further.
As well, I am interested in seeing what some of the new creatures, like the hellworms or whatever they were in the first book (Blood Red Road). The world building in this book should be fantastic as well, Young just has that touch on everything. I cannot wait for this book and I just hope it doesn't let anyone down, which I doubt it will.

Robie is an experienced traveler. She’s taken the flight from Honolulu to the Midway Atoll, a group of Pacific islands where her parents live, many times. When she has to get to Midway in a hurry after a visit with her aunt in Hawaii, she gets on the next cargo flight at the last minute. She knows the pilot, but on this flight, there’s a new co-pilot named Max. All systems are go until a storm hits during the flight. The only passenger, Robie doesn’t panic until the engine suddenly cuts out and Max shouts at her to put on a life jacket. They are over miles of Pacific Ocean. She sees Max struggle with a raft.
And then . . . she’s in the water. Fighting for her life. Max pulls her onto the raft, and that’s when the real terror begins. They have no water. Their only food is a bag of Skittles. There are sharks. There is an island. But there’s no sign of help on the way.
The Raft is one of those books where I may not get into normally. However when I read and reread this synopsis, it draws me in every time. There has been something with the life/death genre lately that has drawn me to the series that tends to focus on life choices and the ones that normally most of us will never deal with. I enjoy that this book is about being stranded on an ocean with only a bag of Skittles and no water; how would you survive and what would you do to try to be found and rescued.
As well, there is something about Max that has me worried. I am hoping he's a teenage/young adult so that this isn't awkward. I am not down for the relationship between a mid-aged man and a teen, it's disgusting and frankly if I wanted to read about that, there are other channels on the net for that. As well, I think for this book it would serve better if they were both teens, and a relationship or something of the sort formed while they were stranded. But PLEASE no volleyballs!
